Upcoming activities

WORKING BEE SUNDAY 22 FEBRUARY 2026 9.00 am at IFF site on Forest Creek
This week we will work at the IFF site which will be a major focus of our planting in 2026. We will be working towards getting some shade and plantings along the creek-line and improving access to the waterhole downstream that has clear evidence of indigenous use. We will work through our 2025 plantings to identify where plants have not survived during this very hot summer. We will weed and water the survivors and weed the non-survivor areas for a possible replant in 2026.
We will also need some brushcutting and raking of an area that we want to prepare for obtaining a truckload of mulch, kindly donated by Mount Alexander Shire Council, so that it can be dropped in an area that is not full of exotic grass seed!
At this stage we will not start digging holes in preparation, as we are investigating some alternative assistance with opening out other areas on this site for our 2026 planting in the hope that we can reduce the amount of physical digging we have to do there.
Come via entrance E4 (see map on our website).

Turn off Duke Street into Burke Street opposite the old Best Motors site, travel 200m along what becomes Happy Valley Road, and park near the intersection with Verlin St. Walk 100m along the walking track to the first flat area as a meeting point. We will work downstream from there. Phone Christine on 0418 325 350 if lost.
Bring a weeding tool (or use one of ours as we have plenty), and bring a brush-cutter if you want to do that sort of work. Wear gloves, hat and stout footwear.

Please note the following for working bees
- please register by sending a note to our special email address CLGVolunteers99@gmail.com
Bring your own tools (if you can, but we have some),
Please remember to keep a clear physical distance between volunteers, and Do not volunteer if you are unwell,
As always, wear gloves, stout footwear, and sun protection.
Morning tea (yummy) is planned - but goes further if you register as above.
If you have questions, please contact Christine on 0418 325 350.
