Upcoming activities

WORKING BEE SUNDAY 8 FEBRUARY 2026 9.00 am at WILDING SITE
We will start the year in the shady Wilding Site, that stretches upstream from Ten Foot Bridge to Duke Street, behind Best Motors. In 2025, our brave contractor went where others fear to tread and commenced weed control in the scratchiest and squeeziest of places on the Wilding site. We owe him big thanks because we can get on with lesser weed control and commencement of preparation for our 2026 planting on the site we want to make a better habitat for local species of plants and animals.
Last year, we experimented with planting on the steep slope of fill from old foundry waste, and will follow up on weeding around surviving plants there and along the creek banks where we also planted. Depending on volunteers, we may start to dig holes for 2026 planting too. This year, we will also venture across to the other side of the creek to start making it more habitable, especially as there has now been construction for residential occupation on that side of the creek.
Bring weeding tolls or use some of ours.  And a brush-cutter or two would be useful.
Park at the Best Motors sign (32 Duke Street/Pyrenees Highway) and walk 50 metres down to the site (E6 on the map our website)
